Meet Lotta: why we're building it

What is Lotta?

If you're here, you probably already know that GLP-1 medications can change your life. What most people don't realise is that they change more than just how you eat.

Lotta is a companion app for people on GLP-1 medication. We want it to sit alongside you through the whole process, from thinking about starting to what life looks like after you've stopped. Lotta is designed to keep you company at every step so it feels more manageable.

In the app, you can log your doses and your meals, and track symptoms, including frequency and intensity. You’ll also be able to keep a private record of any questions you have for your clinician throughout the weeks between appointments, so you never forget to ask if something is normal or what to do about any unexpected events. Lotta's ethos is that this journey is yours and everything should be tailored to your needs.

To keep you company during this process is the Learning Space: a free library of plain-language articles on GLP-1 medicines, food and side effects, with guides to each stage of the process. Every article is built from peer-reviewed research and official health guidance, and each will be reviewed every six months so it stays current. Our goal is to help you understand the process, not just get through it.

Above all, we want Lotta to feel like one cohesive place that leaves you supported and informed, instead of another app to keep up with.

Who we are

We're Margarida and Filipa, best friends for fifteen years, since we met at law school in Lisbon. Our careers took us into different fields, industries and countries, but a shared interest in health kept coming back. 

Lotta is the first thing we've built together. It started because we wanted reliable, accessible information about the reality of GLP-1 medication for ourselves. So, we started asking. We interviewed people, read everything we could find and listened to the questions they kept returning to. The feedback was consistent: good information was out there but it was scattered, and it was hard to piece it all together.

Where we are right now

We're building the app now, and we want to build it with the feedback and support of the community.

That means sharing the process openly: the highs and lows of being first-time founders, the decisions we’re weighing and what we’re learning along the way. So we'll start small, with a beta version for a limited group of people. That way we can listen closely, learn from every conversation and shape the app around what people actually need.
